Atheist Activist with an Axe to Grind:

Public Education and the Influence of Theology

By David G. McAfee

In a nation founded partly on keeping governmental bodies and religious preferences apart from one another, one wouldn’t expect to see the type of religious/non-religious intolerance that we see in the United States of America. It is hard to believe, however, that a nation that is supposedly separated from these types of transgressions would continue to encourage the printing of “IN GOD WE TRUST” on legal tender and the recitation of “One nation, under God” in our nation’s Pledge of Allegiance. These are well-known examples of religion that has infiltrated a secular nation’s government- but by no means are they the only examples. Often we hear about new lawsuits being brought (often by individuals, sometimes with the help of organizations such as the Freedom from Religion Foundation) against various government entities for allowing religious discrimination to creep into reality in a secular environment. Christian Chain Letter in 2010

Analysis by David G. McAfee

Author of Disproving Christianity: Refuting the World’s Most Followed Religion

Here is a letter that has been circulating for a few months now. It’s been attributed to several people but likely was written by none of them. So I left the names out of the copy I received and I’ll post the document itself. As hard as it was for me, I didn’t correct much of  the grammar- so enjoy the ignorance followed by my analysis in red. Special thanks to Robin McQueen Mattingly for bringing this to my attention: Continue reading

The question of origin is one that will undoubtedly arise in the minds of children, and for those young people whose parents are non-religious- the answer may not come as easily. For Christians, their belief system comes neatly bound in the form of Children’s Bible stories in every bookstore- but science can be more difficult to understand than faith and magic for any child. Frequently, I’ll post interviews with authors of non-theistic works to the website in hopes of encouraging freethinkers to pursue new and relevant literature; and when I read The Atheist Camel Chronicles, I was more than excited to find a well-written work whose target audience is the non-believing ‘community’. As the book’s subtitle indicates, it contains “Debate Themes & Arguments for the Non-Believer (and those who think they might be)”, and is written by the creatively pseudo-named Dromedary Hump. I had the opportunity to interview the author behind the Dromedary caricature,    Bart Centre, in order to share with us some details regarding the unique and useful book. Continue reading

My name is LORD. Why do they not believe me? I am the Son of God and the Son of Man- I am Jesus, your Christ, and as I have done over two-thousand years ago, I have descended from Heaven in the body of a man; this time in order to fulfill my prophecies kept alive in the Holy Text of Revelations. What did they expect? I bring with me the apocalypse of earth- but I must be allowed to rapture my numerous followers, for I am their Shepherd. But when I proclaim my Armageddon, it seems as though my sheep have lost their way- turning a deaf ear unto my proclamations, or instantly falling under amnesia of my sacred predictions of the End Times.
